Oprah's Church

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted, but it's tax season and I've been quite busy. But now, I'm here to share something quite disturbing. I found this information on an old friend's website. Oprah has abandoned here Baptist heritage and is completely promoting new age beliefs. When I saw the video and heard the things that she had to say I got chills!! She even holds what she calls "New Earth Webclasses." Check out the link below to Peter Heck's website to hear what she says and Peter's comments about what her teachings!!! It's quite scary!
www.peterheck.com Scroll down until you see "Oprah vs. Jesus"

It's amazing to me that she has been led so far astray!!!

Excitement!!!

Well, I can now safely inform you all that after much prayer and discussion, Kendra and I have decided that the time is right for us to pursue returning to vocational children's ministry. We've been talking about this and praying about it for a while, but we have only told a select few so we can have them praying through this with us. This was because I hadn't told my parents until yesterday. See, my dad is my boss and I wasn't sure how things would go.
Yesterday, Kendra and I went to lunch with my mother and we informed her of our decision. She was quite happy for us, but was not surprised. She came to the conclusion that this is what we were going to do by putting together a lot of things that really had nothing to do with us returning to ministry. We let her think they really did, but at least she had figured it out already. She even began, in December, to prepare my dad that this was probably coming.
So, yesterday, after lunch, I told my dad. He wasn't surprised, but had very little to say about the matter. Please pray for him, as today he is quite depressed. Not just about me leaving, whenever that will be, but that is part of it.
So now that they know, I can tell you all!!!! We are thrilled!! I am going to start submitting my resume to churches soon (within the week) so please be in prayer with us about God leading us in the right direction. When we went to Victory Highway 9 years ago, we knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that that is where we were supposed to be. We are trusting that God will give us the same confirmation this time around.
For those of you who know us well, you know that the last several years have been VERY rocky ones, and we thank you for your prayers. My relationship with Kendra is much stronger today than it has ever been. God has brought a lot of spiritual healing to our family and especially to my life (which I believe has been the catalyst for the growth in our family).
Please continue to pray for God's direction and timing in our search. We love you all and appreciate you all very much!

Fasting and other thoughts by Me

In January I participated in a 21 day partial fast. I've never done a fast like this before. I've actually only fasted for one day at a time only once or twice. This 21 day experience for me was AMAZING!!!!
My purpose in the fast was to break strongholds in my life that I have been struggling to get rid of for quite a while. Through learning to rely on God's strenght to withstand temptation for food, I was able to move the knowledge I have about God's love and power from my head to my heart. For the first time in a long time I have been able to truly grasp that God's love for me is all I need. I am a child of God and it doesn't matter what other people think of me. It only matters what God thinks of me! It's so freeing when this finally sinks in!
I have also been reading a couple of books. The first, which I recommend for ALL parents is called "Child Training Tips: What I Wish I Knew When My Children Were Young" by Reb Bradley. It talks a lot abou the goal of parenting is to raise self-controlled, mature adults. Wow, what a challenge! The cool thing about this is how it is pointing out to me how immature and un-self-controlled I am in many areas of my life. It has really inspired me to mature as a person and to strive to be self-controlled as an adult.
The other book is "The Search for Significance" by Robert McGee. This is a book I recommend for ALL Christians. This book has really understand that I get caught up in the performance trap. We all too often think of our self-worth in the following equation: our performance + other's opinions = our self-worth. This is just what satan wants us to believe. Our performance isn't important. Other people's opinions aren't important. The only thing that matters is what God thinks of us. When we accept Christ, we are given Christ's righteousness and God views us through that filter. Does that make us perfect? No. It grieves God when we sin. But he doesn't think any less of us when we sin. He still loves us! Nothing will ever change that. Praise God that we can be free from satan's lies and free of performance anxiety!!!!

On other news, Dr. James Dobson has spoken out against John McCain. Hear his thoughts on McCain that were read on the Laura Ingraham show by clicking this link. He has endorsed Mike Huckabee. Go Mike!!!
Anyway, those are my thoughts for the day! Have a blessed day!

My Beautiful Wife

The other day my wife wrote a wonderful post singing my praises and I didn't even know it until I just read it today!! How terrible! Shows you just how often I read blogs? Honestly, I've been swamped at work and haven't taken time to read much of anything online.
Anyway, I just wanted to let the world know that I have the most wonderful wife in the world!! She is so incredibly thoughtful. She puts everyone before herself and sacrifices so much for our family. She pours so much of her time into taking care of me and the kids that she often neglects herself. Trying to wrap my mind around that kind of thinking is difficult for me since I tend to be rather self-centered! :( Everything she does is done with a motive of love. She is truly the most genuine, unconditionally loving person I've ever met. She doesn't just do this for our family because it's her duty, but because she really loves to do it!!! She is truly amazing!!! For all of you that read this that are married, I hope that you can say the same about your spouse. If not, take a look at your relationship and see just how well you are doing and try to honor your spouse and family by living like Kendra, who ultimately strives to emulate Christ in everything that she does. She has been and is the best example of Christ's love that I have in my life. I learn a lot from watching my wife live her life. She is truly a God send!!!

I'M BACK!!!!

Well, folks, I know it's been a long time (in case you didn't notice I last posted in March), but I have finally returned to the world of blogging.
I hope life is finding you all grand. Life here has been busy and is about to get busier. A new year is upon us and with that ushers in the ever dreaded tax season. This will be my second tax season working in this line of work and I must say...I'm not looking forward to it. But alas, I will suffer through it in order to receive my weekly paycheck. :)

Christmas at our house was good this year. Kendra's folks came over on Christmas Eve and stayed all night. It was nice to have them there while the kids opened their presents at 6:30 am!!! My parents dropped by for about an hour and then rushed off to my brothers' houses. We went NO WHERE!!! We spent the whole day at home.

For New Year's Eve, we went to Kendra's sister's house and played games all night long. We slept on an air matress in her living room. Our kids stayed up until almost 2 a.m.!! It was nuts. We were awakened (Is that right?) at 5 a.m. to the sound of baby toys going off. Lukas or Zack kicked them in their sleep and they began playing music. The boys were up at 8 and got up to play while the rest of us were up at about 9:30. We were all exhausted, but we had a good day.
Getting home from Coshocton was quite interesting, however. The weather called for about an inch of snow and that was it. Well, it took us two hours to get home because when we hit Newark, OH we were driving on a sheet of ice. We ended up getting about 3 inches!! It's still on the ground. It has been about 20 degrees the last couple of days and right now (at 4:30 p.m.) it is 37!! Whoo Hoo!!! Heat wave!!! :)

Well, that is our holiday in a nutshell. I'll stop rambling on now. It's good to be back in the blog-o-sphere!!!

Lukas and American Idol

For those of you who haven't heard yet, Lukas has pneumonia. He has been running a fever since last Saturday, but praise God it has started to stay in the normal range since yesterday. The doctor gave him a stronger antibiotic and he is starting to get better. He's getting more energy, which we are very thankful for. Please continue to pray for him. We are very concerned and hope that he is better soon so we no longer have to worry.

So this show is my favorite show to watch every year. And I am a little late in commenting on this last weeks episodes, but I'm going to now. SANJAYA SUCKS!!! AS DOES ANTONELLA!!! They both should have gone home. I can't believe that Sabrina was sent home. She was amazing! For those of you who didn't know, she is the worship leader at (crap, I can't think of the guy's name. Famous speaker that speaks at Promise Keepers a lot.)

My pick for the winner is up in the air, but I think it will be either Melinda Doolittle or Lakisha. The both are amazing!!! The guys don't even compare to the women this year! It is definitely a woman's year. Welll that's all I have to say for now. Catch you later.
